Medium carbon steel contains more than 0.25% carbon and has certain hardenability, such as common 50 steel, 45 steel, medium carbon alloy steel, etc. It has poor weldability, generates heat quickly during welding and dissipates heat quickly, easily generates a brittle and hard martensite structure, and has a large heat-affected zone, which reduces the strength and is prone to spattering. Thick plates are prone to cracks and looseness, so if this type of steel is spot welded with an AC spot welder, it needs to be annealed before welding. If a medium frequency spot welder is used, it can be directly welded because it has the function of tempering and welding at the same time.

Welding points: 1. Medium carbon steel of 0.1~4mm can be welded with low current parameters for a long time. The welding time is 3-4 times that of low carbon steel with the same thickness. At the same time, the electrode pressure needs to be reduced. 2. The surface of low carbon steel must be cleaned of oil stains, oxide layers, rust stains and other impurities before welding. 3. Use electrodes made of chromium-zirconium-copper material. It has moderate conductivity and strength, is not easy to soften when welding at high temperatures, and is durable and wear-resistant. 4. When choosing an AC spot welder, you should choose a single-pulse or three-pulse controller type pneumatic spot welder, so that you can accurately control the welding current, welding time and current rising slope. 5. In order to prevent the occurrence of cracks and looseness, it is advisable to increase the pneumatic pressure method of upsetting force in a precise period of time, and the force is 2~2.5 times of the electrode pressure.
