1) Aluminum, chromium, silicon, molybdenum and other elements in steel are easy to generate high melting point oxides. We need to use high current for a short time and speed up the upsetting speed to quickly flash off the oxides.

2) As the content of alloy elements increases, the high-temperature strength becomes stronger, and we need to increase the upsetting force.

3) For pearlitic steel, the alloy elements increase and it is easy to quench. We must take measures to prevent quenching embrittlement.

The welding characteristics of low alloy steel are similar to those of medium carbon steel. They are easy to harden. We also need post-weld heat treatment. This type of steel has strong strength at high temperatures and contains many oxides. It requires larger upsetting force and faster flash and upsetting speeds.

In addition to the characteristics of high carbon steel, high carbon alloy steel also contains a certain amount of alloying elements. Due to the high carbon content, wide crystallization temperature range, and long semi-melted zone at the interface, if the upsetting force is insufficient and the amount of plastic deformation is insufficient, the oxides will easily remain in the semi-melted zone and form a loose structure, thus failing the test.

The main alloying elements of austenitic steel are Cr and Ni. This kind of steel has high high-temperature strength, poor electrical and thermal conductivity, low melting point (compared to low carbon steel), and a large number of alloying elements (such as Cr) that easily form high-melting point oxides. Therefore, use large upsetting force and quick flash. The fast flash speed can effectively prevent the rapid growth of grains in the heat-affected zone and the reduction of corrosion resistance.
