Why can't some steel be welded with a flash butt welder?

Whether it can be welded with the Xinxing flash butt welder depends on the type of steel? Steel is divided into: (1) Ferritic F steel (2) Austenitic (A) steel (3) Cementite Fe C steel (4) Pearlite (P) steel (5) Martensite (M) steel

Can I use Nova?Flash butt welding machineIs welding related to the type of steel?Steel is divided into: (1) Ferritic F steel (2)Austenitic (A) steel (3) Cementite F e C steel (4) Pearlite (P) steel (5) Martensitic (M) steel

1. Ferritic steel The interstitial solid solution formed by carbon dissolved in a-Fe is called ferrite, commonly represented by the symbol F.

Ferrite characteristics: ①Body-centered cubic lattice ②The solubility of carbon in c-Fe is also small ③Good plasticity and toughness, but low strength and hardness. ④Low carbon content and good weldability

2. Austenitic steel The interstitial solid solution formed by carbon dissolved in γ-Fe is called austenite, represented by the symbol A.

Austenite characteristics: ①Face-centered cubic lattice ② Strong ability to dissolve carbon ③It has low hardness and high plasticity, suitable for pressure processing and molding, and has moderate weldability.

3. Cementite The metal compound Fe 3C formed by iron and carbon is called cementite, represented by Fe3C Characteristics of cementite: ①Dissolved carbon content = 6.69%, melting point is 1227°C ②Crystal structure: Complex interstitial compounds. ③The hardness is very high, but the plasticity and toughness are almost zero. Not solderable

4. Pearlite (P) steel Pearlite (P) steel is a mechanical mixture of ferrite and cementite, represented by the symbol P.

Pearlite (P) steel characteristics ①Dissolved carbon content is about 0.77% ② Ferrite and cementite are a mixture of alternating lamellar layers. ③High strength, moderate hardness, certain plasticity, not easy to resist welding.

5. Martensitic (M) steel

The supersaturated solid solution of carbon in a-Fe is called martensite, represented by the symbol M.

Characteristics of martensitic (M) steel ①The dissolved carbon content is about 0.2%. The higher the content, the higher the hardness. ②Lath-like ③High strength and certain toughness. Weldable, heat treatment required after welding.

Solderability As the mass fraction of carbon in steel increases, the plasticity of the steel decreases and the weldability decreases. Therefore, in order to ensure high-quality welded joints, Low carbon steel (steel with carbon mass fraction <0.25%) should be preferred. Steel with a carbon mass fraction of >0.5% is generally not used because of poor weldability. If it is to be used, necessary welding process measures should be taken.
